Music Rights Clearance 2020 Year In Review
2020 has been an unprecedented year and our team at Music Rights Clearance has been more grateful than ever for the support and trust of our incredible clients and our partners in the music industry.
We had the privilege of working on some incredible projects this year. We cleared more than 30 songs from epic artists including Sofi Tukker, Billie Eilish, Robert Charlebois, Les Soeurs Boulay, Dumas, Thutmose, Boule Noire, and more.
We also got to see some amazing covers and adaptations come to life! From The Clash’s “I Fought The Law” for the Montreal Children’s Hospital and “I Feel Pretty” for Belair, to “Sweet Dreams” becoming “Swede Dreams” for Ikea, we made musical dreams come true all year!
And we were so proud to see our clients get so many well-deserved accolades and awards! Claire et les Vieux won the award for Best Short Series at the Cannes Series Festival. Rethink won Gold in the Business Impact category at the Canadian Marketing Awards for their Westjet “Cattle” campaign that featured the classic “Blue Monday” from New Order. The Kia campaign by Innocean, featuring Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” was crowned Canada’s most popular commercial of the year on Youtube! And last but not least, the virtual reality show Space Explorers: The ISS Experience produced by Montreal-based studio Félix & Paul, in partnership with the TIMES and NASA, for which we cleared musical rights, was honored in La Presse.
Our team could not have gotten through this year without music. Whether it was returning to the comfort of old favorites or discovering new artists and songs, music is the driving force in everything we do. Here’s what we were listening to this year: MRC’s Best of 2020
